The place is set at 36 rue Poissonnière, a stone’s throw from the Grand Rex. The bright yellow façade catches curious people’s eyes and displays tasty hot dogs based on organic homemade bread, halal poultry and turkey sausage, and mostly homemade condiments and sauces. It has it all to attract us.

First stop: the United States with the US Dog based on relish, mustard, ketchup, fried onions. This is one of Road Trip’s bestsellers and we get why: the flavors and textures are perfectly balanced and this is a genuine American hot dog but gourmet style!

Then, let us venture south to enjoy the Mexican Dog. We love the homemade guacamole, sour enough to shake up the taste buds, the corn is crunchy and cheddar broiled. Then, let us go back to Europe with the Italian Dog, which is our favorite one! The homemade green pesto loaded in basil is delightful and pair the broiled mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes perfectly.

Last but not least, our journey ends with the French Dog, another bestseller, filled with homemade candied onions, and smooth brie, which tastes strong enough but does not take over the rest. As a side, you can get some Mac and Cheese, nachos or even the salad of the moment, depending on inspirations!

And if before you got in Road Trip you browsed the window, you might have seen some uncommon waffles shaped like a fish. This is the place’s second specialties: taiyaki. But what are these?

Taiyaki are fish-shaped Japanese waffles. Well, specifically seabream-shaped waffles since this is a lucky dish in Japan. But here, Road Trip dream team has revisited the recipe: they are halfway between pancake and madeleine. They can be stuffed with chocolate, salted butter caramel, maple syrup or even speculoos. What we love is the size that has been altered for these taiyaki to be easier to enjoy: rather than a big waffle, go for give small fishes. You can treat yourself to an assortment of several flavors.
