Seen as one of the most popular event of the sporting calendar, the Harmonie Mutuelle Semi de Paris will return on Sunday September 5, 2021 for the 28th edition!
First said to be still maintained, the 2020 edition of the race has been cancelled the day before the event because of the coronavirus pandemic, then postponed first to September 6, 2020. But the organizing committee then announced on July 6, it was delayed for another month, taking it or October 18, 2020. Ultimately, the Semi Marathon de Paris has been simply cancelled and postponed to 2021 just like the Marathon de Paris.
This Tuesday November 17, 2020, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), entrusted with the organization of Paris Half-Marathon, announces the edition 2021 of the race will take place on September 5 in Paris. The organizers have decided to postpone the race - usually held in early Spring, in March or April - it is first and foremost because they want to prevent the race from being cancelled over and over again because of the uncertain health situation the world is still experiencing.
And because the situation is not about to get better before the summer 2021 - as said by President Macron - it is no longer about taking risks. The new date - September 5, 2021 - gives a bit of time to organizers as they hope major races will be allowed in September 2021.
Moreover, "For the competitors signed up for this year are, if they wish, also signed up for the 2021 edition. If not, they will benefit from a voucher, the value of which being equal to however much they spent on the bib and extra options or a reimbursement after a period of 18 months."
Meet on September 5, 2021 then for the next edition of the Harmonie Mutuelle Semi de Paris.
