To make the most of July 14, 2023 in Paris, without getting in over your head, you'll need to get organized by checking which areas are inaccessible and which metro and RER stations are not closed.
This July 14, 2023, as every year, traffic restrictions will be in force by car and bus from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Champs-Elysées, Concorde and Assemblée Nationale areas due to the protection perimeter set up by the Prefect of Police, because of the military parade, and in the evening in a large perimeter around the Eiffel Tower on the occasion of the fireworks display. Security checks will be stepped up on people, luggage and vehicles. Please note that it is forbidden to carry fireworks or pyrotechnics, weapons, blunt objects or alcohol in this area.
Traffic will be banned in a wide area including western Paris, especially the 8th arrondissement, but also parts of central Paris and the 7th, 8th, 9th, 16th and 17th arrondissements. Traffic is strongly advised against in these areas. Traffic will become more difficult in the evening around the Champ-de-Mars, where the classical music concert (9pm) and the fireworks display (11pm) will be held.
Parking restrictions begin at 11pm on Thursday July 13 and run until 1am on Saturday July 15. The streets concerned are in the 7th, 8th and 16th arrondissements. Finding a parking space in the vicinity of the festivities on a public holiday will quickly become a headache. A number of paid parking lots are available, some of which can be booked in advance - just think! You can also plan to park on a line serving the area. As you'd expect, public transport is still the best way to get around. But don't forget to plan your route.
