What if the capital's urban transport systems were entitled to their own museum? Jean Castex, President of RATP, the company in charge of Paris's public transport network, has already expressed his desire. According to a report in Le Monde, this project is set to become a reality in the coming years. Yes, Paris will soon have a new museum: the Musée des Transports Urbains Parisiens.
It's a project that should see the light of day by 2032. In fact, the site of the future museum has already been chosen: it's in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, in the north of the capital, that RATP plans to open this new space imagined as a place of memory. It will be located in the Championnet maintenance workshops, between Porte de Clignancourt and the Chapelle district.
The future Parisian urban transport museum will cover an area of 12,000 m2. An opportunity to showcase thehistory of RATP to the delight of railway enthusiasts. So keep an eye out for more information on this project, so as not to miss out!
