Lines N and U will have an additional stop at Villepreux-Les Clayes station in the Yvelines. The mayor of Villepreux, Jean-Baptiste Hamonic, describes this announcement as a "small revolution" for users in the area, according to Le Parisien. From December 2026, all trains running between Dreux and Paris Montparnasse in both directions will now stop at this station located in Clayes-sous-Bois. However, it will be necessary to wait a year before benefiting from this concrete improvement in service.
This decisionby Île-de-France Mobilités follows a long consultation process with the municipalities concerned. For those accustomed to post-COVID hardships and pre-Olympic construction disruptions that have degraded transportation services in recent years, this news comes as a breath of fresh air. On weekdays, the station will benefit from two additional trains per hour during the morning rush hour in the Dreux-Paris direction, then at the end of the day in the Paris-Dreux direction. During off-peak hours, an additional train will run every hour in both directions. This increased frequency will also apply on weekends and public holidays.
The improvement does not only concern services to the capital. Jean-Baptiste Hamonic, who is also vice-president in charge of mobility for the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines metropolitan area, points out that this new frequency makes the connection with the U line much more attractive for reaching Paris La Défense. Users will be able to save an average of 15 minutes on their journeys, according to Philippe Guiguen, mayor of Clayes-sous-Bois.
This progress is the result of several years of regular meetings between the towns of Villepreux and Les Clayes-sous-Bois and Île-de-France Mobilités. Local elected officials are pleased that their requests have been taken into account by Valérie Pécresse, president of the region and IDFM. The measure will enable residents of both municipalities to benefit from more regular and competitive service for their daily commutes.
While this announcement is welcome news for users, they will still need to be patient. On the one hand, these additional stops will not actually be implemented until December 2026. On the other hand, the mayor of Villepreux warns that construction work will continue to impact passengers' daily lives in the first half of 2026. The Villepreux-Les Clayes station has recently undergone major modernization and accessibility work, financed by the region, IDFM, and SNCF Gares & Connexions at a cost of €11.5 million.
At the same time, service will also be increased between the RER C and lines N and U on the Saint-Cyr-l'École - Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines section, with trains running every 10 minutes during off-peak hours. This will significantly improve mobility in this area of the Yvelines, after several difficult months for users of the Île-de-France transport system.
