Toyland: Illucity's immersive virtual reality experience

Attention virtual reality fans! Illucity invites you to immerse yourself in a brand-new hyper-reality experience, entitled Toyland. A dive into the world of toys, full of pitfalls and zombie dolls...

Get ready for an extraordinary experience... Illucity, a virtual reality center in the heart of La Défense, launched Toyland, an original hyper-reality creation, on February 6, 2019. A totally immersive VR experience that plunges us into the world of toys, rather like Toy Story.

How does it work? Equipped with a VR headset, a computer in your backpack and a shotgun, you move around a room in a group, killing zombie dolls and vampire trolls until the room is completely cleared. A bit like an escape game in VR, like Mission Eclipse, with the difference that there are no riddles to solve: it's simply a shooting game.

It's an experience that the editors have of course tested, and one that clearly sets it apart from other similarvirtual reality activities. First and foremost, the shimmering universe will undoubtedly appeal to young and old alike. The world of toys is well exploited, desacralizing the somewhat horrific beat'em all (the zombie dolls aren't there for tea...).

As for the transitions between game phases, these are unequalled in their fluidity. How do they work? In the room where the players are, six vibrating seats are available to transport all participants from one place to another: helicopter, giant robot... all forms that allow players to stay in the game, without realizing the phases. A well-thought-out stratagem that makes all the difference...

In terms of price, it's rather interesting: around 30 euros per person for a one-hour session (30 minutes of play), the same price as a classic escape game. Admittedly, it's not cheap, given the short time you spend in the game, but the immersion is such that it's well worth it. It's worth noting that the experience is accessible to children aged 11 and over, so families can play and get away from it all... Shall we go off and kill some toys, folks?

This test was conducted as part of a professional invitation. If your experience differs from ours, please mention it in the comments.
