For over 350 years, the Palace of Versailles and its royal gardens have been a magical place near Paris. Every summer, the 55 fountains scattered around the 850 acres of Versailles gardens provide incredible moments inherited from the Sun Century: the Fountains Shows and the Musical Gardens!
The Musical Fountains Shows
As an irrestistibel event for families and tourists in the Versailles estates in the afternoon, the Fountains Shows brighten up fountains in a royal atmosphere.
Picture this, from the Grand Perspective to Neptune Fountain, without forgetting the Ballroom and its circular cascade, all the greatest pools brighten up in the summer, spreading out again all the pomp of the Versailles Estate. On sunny days, the Garden offers one of the most beautiful shows, thought up by Louis XIV and designed by the best Italian hydrant men, the Francine, in association with Le Nôtre!
It’s quite impressive to see this water system designed in 1660, in order to support the Sun King’s power: in four years, the world’s most beautiful gardens were carried out thanks to the hardest works for the era. Digging the Grand Canal, building huge water tanks, setting up a wide network of closed piping covering 35 km, leading to 600 water displays!
Water display time slots of the pools on weekends and public holidays (Friday May 8, Thursday May 21 and Tuesday July 14):
Water display time slots of the pools on Tuesdays from May 19 to June 23 and FRiday April 10, 2020:
Another event is the Musical Gardens offering you the possibility to roam around the gardens at the pace of baroque music. At the corner of a flowerbed, perfectly straight box trees or in an exceptionally open grove on the occasion of the Musical Gardens, you will walk by statues representing Apollo, Proserpine, Marmousets and other masterpieces – sometimes hidden. Admire the topiaries hand-trimmed by the art gardeners of the Palace of Versailles, in line with a know-how passed down from generation to generation.
Like the climax of your stroll, the Water Theatre Grove recently inaugurated will offer you its most beautiful sculpture-fountains in action and the Mirror Pool, a water game show using modern technics.
Music display time slots:
And meet in the hall of mirror for the Sérénade Royale to enjoy this summer, on Saturdays, after the Fountains Show and before the Night Fountains Show.
