Does your child dream of becoming an animal caretaker? Does he or she love going to the zoo and taking care of animals? Chances are you've got the perfect activity for an unusual afternoon. With"Soigneur en herbe", budding animal caretakers can go behind the scenes of this extraordinary profession. Are you ready?
Cleaning, feeding, observing and entertaining: these are the tasks entrusted to your children aged 7 to 14 during this half-day of discovery and learning. It's a real behind-the-scenes look at the zoo, from cleaning the giraffe house to preparing food for the animals and breakfast for the big cats. Your little one will even have his own "Zoo Safari de Thoiry" uniform, so he'll feel like he's there for real.
Program:
- 9 a.m. / 1:20 p.m.: departure of budding caretakers, handing over of caretaker's equipment
- preparation of animal feed
- feeding small mammals (meerkats, makis catta...)
- cleaning animal houses (giraffe or lemurs)
- breakfast for big cats
- distribution of branches to giraffes
- meeting with strange animals
- 12.15pm / 5pm: return to the park entrance
If you'd like to enjoy the Soigneur d'un jour experience as a family, you can also discover the Soigneur en tribu experience, where you can put on your boots and uniforms as a budding carer all together, young and old alike! In groups of up to 6 people, you'll enjoy a privileged moment of discovery behind the scenes of the zoo, and learn all about its residents: diet, lifestyle, habits at Thoiry Zoo... This time, you'll pay €400 for a group experience, from 7 to 99 years old!
The Soigneurs en tribu program:
- 2pm: welcome by the guide
- lemur food preparation and feeding
- spotted hyena enrichment
- giraffe house cleaning and feeding
- unique encounter with
a resident of the Arche des petits bêtes (the animal's name is a surprise!)
