From October 3 to 13, 2025, the Fête de la Science is in full swing in Paris and the Île-de-France region: to find out everything there is to know about the underside of Paris, visit the Sewer Museum!

The Fête de la Science is an annual event designed to promote scientific culture to the general public. Created in 1991 by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, it enables researchers, institutions and science enthusiasts to share their knowledge through events, exhibitions, conferences and interactive workshops. Every year in October, young and old are invited to discover scientific and technological advances, and to exchange ideas with professionals.

Museums, laboratories and universities open their doors to offer a variety of activities. Conferences are organized at major institutions, along with guided tours, scientific workshops for children and open-air demonstrations.

The Musée des Égouts de Paris is a unique place to discover the history and workings of the Parisian sewers. Located beneath the Pont de l'Alma, this museum tells the story of how, since the Middle Ages, the city has developed a sewerage system to evacuate its wastewater. Today, it's still possible to explore part of the underground network, understand the challenges of such an infrastructure and see first-hand the innovations that have enabled Paris to manage its water in a modern, efficient way.
