Science Festival 2026 at Créteil's IUT: a free event to discover food

Published by Margot de Sortiraparis · Updated on August 5, 2026 at 12:25 p.m.
From October 2 to 12, 2026, the Festival of Science will take place across France. The IUT of Créteil, a unit of Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), is taking part in this national event by offering activities designed to make science and technology accessible to the general public.

Established in 1991 by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Fête de la Science aims to bring the world of science closer to ordinary people. For ten days, researchers, teachers, students, and mediators offer workshops, talks, demonstrations, and tours to present their work in an accessible way. The 2026 edition bears the theme "Savory Science" dedicated to the connections between science, food, taste, and the innovations associated with them. As is the case across France, the activities are open to everyone and entirely free.

The Créteil IUT, a higher education institution within UPEC, trains students across several technological fields, including biological engineering, computer science, networks, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and marketing techniques. Its programs combine theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and partnerships with industry. The Fête de la Science offers a chance to explore these disciplines, the institution’s teaching facilities, and the projects developed by its faculty and students.
