The Val d'Oise archaeological museum will be opening its doors free of charge to the curious on October 4 and 5, 2025, to mark the Fête de la Science. A program of family activities is planned, find out more.

Everyautumn, numerous museums, schools and scientific institutions open their doors to us for a very special event. The aim of the Fête de la Science is to introduce us to the many professions involved in science, to showcase the great discoveries and work of researchers, and to introduce children to the mysteries and wonders of science.

Chemistry, astronomy, mathematics, robotics, oceanography, archaeology, botany... From October 3 to 13, 2025, a wide range of disciplines will be showcased through events and tours open to all. It's a fun and educational way to learn all you can!

On the weekend of October 4 and 5, 2025, the Musée archéologique du Val d'Oise is taking part in the Fête de la Science 2025. For the occasion, the museum is opening its doors free of charge to all visitors, and is organizing various workshops for children and teenagers. Meet at the Genainville archaeological site

  • Visite hors-les-murs - The Gallo-Roman sanctuary of Genainville
    At 10am (1h) - From 8 years
    In Genainville, plunge into the heart of Antiquity with a sanctuary dating from the 2nd century AD. Temples, pools and a show building bear witness to the importance of this sacred site.
  • Workshop for the general public - The fresco technique
    At 11am (1h30) - From 8 years
    Discover Gallo-Roman fresco painting techniques and paint your own a fresco motif.
  • Visite hors-les-murs - On the trail of wall paintings
    At 2pm (1h) - From age 13
    Explore the Genainville archaeological site, where wall paintings preserved by the Musée archéologique du Val d'Oise have been unearthed. Learn about the context of their discovery and the restoration project currently underway, to understand the challenges of heritage conservation.
  • Conference - Restoration of wall paintings at the Genainville sanctuary
    At 3pm (1h30) - From 13 years
    The Centre d'Étude des Peintures Murales Romaines is an archaeological research laboratory specializing in the treatment of wall paintings and stucco from the Roman period. The painted plasterwork on the Genainville archaeological site, preserved by the Musée archéologique du Val d'Oise, is currently undergoing restoration.
