Every autumn, all over France, thousands offree events invite the general public to experiment, observe and exchange with specialists from all horizons, around science, research and innovation, on the occasion of the Fête de la Science. Laboratories, universities, museums and associations open their doors during this not-to-be-missed event to share their knowledge in a fun and interactive way with the very young, with workshops, guided tours and many other activities!
In Survilliers, in the Val-d'Oise region, theÉcomusée de la Cartoucherie recounts the industrial and social adventure of the Cartoucherie Française, founded in 1903 by Charles Gabel and Georges Leroy. From its beginnings with just a dozen employees, the factory grew into an industrial giant, employing up to 2,000 workers during the First World War.
Inaugurated in 2007, this museum-conservatory became an inter-communal ecomuseum on January 1, 2024, managed by the Roissy Pays de France conurbation, with the mission of collecting and promoting testimonials, objects and photographs from this significant era. Thanks to these collections and the commitment of former workers, the Ecomuseum offers a living insight into the region's working-class and industrial memory.

At the start of each session, you'll be offered a flash tour of one of the machines designed by engineers at Cartoucherie Française.
Then, slip into the shoes of an engineer by taking part in a workshop led by the Traces group, specialists in scientific mediation. Learn how to build an object capable of going up or down a slope. You'll need to carry a small piece of wood on board as a passenger. Be careful not to knock it over or jostle it too much!
Ages 8 and up (adult supervision required).
