We couldn't miss France's biggest metal festival, with over 180 bands to discover over 4 days and less than 3 hours by train from Paris! So Sortir à Paris leaves the capital for a few days, and brings you the 18th edition of Hellfest as if you were there. Here's a look back at 10 selected moments from Saturday June 21, 2025, the day of the Fête de la musique.

A third day at Hellfest! After two explosive days in Clisson, the festival dedicated to extreme music continued its momentum and offered us yet more memorable moments, marked in particular by the presence of such unmissable bands as Judas Priest, Scorpions, Dream Theater and Savatage. But the day was also an opportunity to feast our eyes and ears on lesser-known, but oh-so-talented bands such as Vestige, Audrey Horne and The Ocean... all in stifling heat! Here's a look back at Saturday June 21, 2025.

Getting up early can sometimes be a good thing, as was the case this Saturday, June 21, 2025, when we discovered Vestige. This young French band, originally from Paris, has been making waves in recent months. While they will be performing with Klone in Paris this autumn, Vestige made their Hellfest debut this year. Scheduled on the Altar stage at 10.30am, the combo delivered an excellent, powerful and bewitching set. For 30 minutes (not long enough for our taste), Vestige offered us a beautiful musical journey between modern, atmospheric and progressive metal. The band, visibly moved by the warm welcome they received from the audience, scored a lot of points this Saturday morning!

Lucie Sue was another first! The French band was scheduled to perform on Mainstage 1 at 11.05am on June 21. And the singer still seemed to be struggling to realize what she was experiencing. She had been invited to the festival in 2022, to play bass on Steel Panther for a featuring. This year, Lucie Sue took to the Hellfest stage to rock out to her 90's sound with panache and good humor.

The Norwegian band Audrey Horne brought their infectious hard rock to Mainstage 1 this Saturday lunchtime. We knew the band were a must-see live. And we were in no way disappointed. The Scandinavian band, with a 20-year career behind them, didn't hesitate to use the front of the stage while casting knowing glances at the audience and photographers.

For 45 minutes, the 5 acolytes played a succession of tracks as scathing as they were catchy, featuring several of their hits, including"Waiting for the Night" and"Animal", and giving rise to some sharp riffs! In short, Audrey Horne's upbeat, dynamic set was a real crowd-pleaser.

Sometimes, you don't need a lot of people in a band to make a big, good sound! Urne is proof of that. As a reminder, the latest opus from this British trio was produced by a certain... Joe Duplantier of Gojira! So, the curious gathered under the Altar this Saturday lunchtime to discover this progressive metal band. And the energy was certainly there, with the band's stripped-down songs carried by Joe Nally's powerful vocals. This is a band that should continue to make a name for itself in the years to come!

It was another hot, hot day at the Hellfest site on Saturday June 21. As a result, many festival-goers tried to keep cool. Everyone had their own technique for this. Plenty of water for some, leading to long queues at certain points on the site to fill their water bottles or cups, walls of water for many, and giant misters for others!

Doom lovers gathered in front of the Valley on Saturday afternoon to pogo to Conan. The British band, with a 20-year career behind them, proved that they're still a force to be reckoned with. Admittedly, Conan aren't the type to express themselves and communicate with their audience, but the band from Liverpool are above all there to do their music proud, with heavy riffs and haunting melodies.

After Finland's Apocalyptica on Thursday, it's the turn of Finland's Wheel this Saturday. An opportunity to immerse yourself in the progressive metal of this Nordic band, driven by the ethereal voice of frontman James Lascelles. Fans turned out in force under the Altar to (re)discover Wheel and their musical flights of fancy. A clean, pleasant set, but lacking in energy at times, in our opinion.

The second big hit of the day on June 21 was The Ocean. Although our bodies were already damp from the heat, this was nothing compared to what The Ocean were about to do to us at 7:35pm on Saturday under the Altar. The Berlin-based progressive post-metal collective really shook up the tent and turned up the heat with their devastating, ultra-powerful tracks, creating a fine series of slams.

The Ocean, who received a standing ovation from the audience at the end of their set, are undeniably one of those bands you must see live. The collective can count on the boundless energy of their singer Loïc Rossetti, who didn't hesitate to throw himself into the pit on several occasions while continuing to sing. A pure moment of big sound, madness and fury! We can only regret the various departures announced in the band: that of drummer Paul Seidel last February, and the recent announcements of guitarist David Ramis Åhfeldt and singer Loïc Rossetti.

Saturday June 21 also saw a thunderous set fromAbbath, with their incomparable black metal, and Denmark's Vola, featuring Einar Solberg of Leprous. Leprous unsurprisingly set the Altar alight at the end of the evening.

Fourth and final day of Hellfest on Sunday June 22, with eagerly awaited concerts by Linkin Park, Eisbrecher, Good Riddance, Jerry Cantrell and Refused!
