From Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Breton town of Lorient will once again come alive to the sounds of Celtic music — along with other genres — celebrating the rich diversity of the Celtic nations. This is the 55th edition of the Interceltic Festival of Lorient, themed this year around “Cornwall, at the heart of the Celtic Sea.”
For those who don't know, the Lorient Interceltic Festival has been the pride of Morbihan since 1971, thanks to a rich and varied program that honors all forms of Celtic music. Every summer in August, groups and artists from Brittany, Scotland, Galicia, Ireland, Cornwall, Wales, Australia and Acadia are invited to perform and share their musical culture with the public.
Regarded as one of the most significant festivals in France in terms of attendance, the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival has hosted numerous international acts, including The Cranberries in 2010 and Texas in 2011. Beyond the concerts, the event features piping competitions and vibrant parades. Don't miss the highlight: the famous 'Grand Show of the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival', held every summer at the Moustoir Stadium. It brings together nearly 500 artists and musicians from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Galicia, and of course, Brittany!
So, who will make this year’s Lorient Interceltique Festival truly unforgettable? Which artists have been invited to perform in Brittany this summer? Well, you can look forward to the magnetic presence of the legendary Yann Tiersen, alongside the Danish singer-songwriter Agnes Obel, the Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie, and acts like Perceval. Plus, Breton harpist, singer-songwriter, and performer Cécile Corbel will also be taking the stage. Stay tuned for more updates on the lineup.
