Originally slated for July 13, 2026, for the traditional Bastille Day celebration, the fireworks in Palaiseau have been canceled following a prefectural order.

Because of the heatwave and the risk of fires, the Essonne prefecture has issued a decree prohibiting fireworks across the department through Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The traditional Bastille Day fireworks, scheduled for July 13, are canceled in Palaiseau.

The National Day in France is the 14th of July! We mark the storming of the Bastille, symbol of royal power, but we also celebrate the Festival of the Federation, a national, unifying holiday dating back to 1790. And in Palaiseau, this event is observed just as throughout the Île-de-France region: with music and lights! This pretty town in Essonne, a favorite of writers, is staging a festive National Day 2026 evening on July 13.

Many towns host festivities on July 13 or 14, featuring activities, a dance, and a fireworks finale to cap the celebration. In Palaiseau, the city invites you to gather on July 13, 2026 from 11 p.m. to witness this grand fireworks show.

Make the most of this special evening, because good news: July 14 is a public holiday — you can sleep in and recover from last night’s wildness!

The meetup is set at Georges Collet Stadium to watch the magnificent fireworks lighting up the sky in a thousand colors. A display that already promises to be impressive, as it always is!

We wish you a wonderful Fête Nationale in Palaiseau!
