July 14th is a key date in France, as it celebrates the Fête Nationale. It's an opportunity for the French to celebrate their attachment to the Republic and the values of liberty, equality and fraternity. To mark the occasion, we're going all out! Firemen's balls and fireworks displays are held throughout the country on this festive day of celebration.
In Paris, people flock to watch the military parade down the Champs-Elysées avenue, before returning to their favorite spot to witness the iconic fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower. And theÎle-de-France region is not to be outdone, with numerous towns across the region taking part in the festivities and unveiling their own programs.
Looking for a map of Val-de-Marne? In Maisons-Alfort, the celebrations - based on the theme of " extraordinary beauty " and aimed at young and old alike - are spread over two days! Rendezvous on July 13 and 14, 2023 to enjoy the Fête Nationale with a firemen's ball, a fair and, of course, fireworks from the banks of the Marne. A stunning setting in which to marvel at this fabulous fireworks display, organized jointly with the towns of Charenton and Saint-Maurice.
Please note: "The Mayors of Maisons-Alfort, Charenton-le-Pont and Saint Maurice have decided to cancel the fireworks display on July 14, 2023. The traditional July 14th fireworks display organized jointly by the towns of Maisons-Alfort, Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maurice on the banks of the Marne in the immediate vicinity of the Pont de Charenton, at the level of the Saint-Maurice lock dam, will not take place this year. A decision that the 3 Mayors, Marie-France Parrain, Hervé Gicquel and Igor Semo, have had to come to in view of the current context of urban violence that has struck the communes of the Paris region, and the major technical security constraints. It is therefore with regret, but in all conscience and responsibility that the Mayors have made this precautionary choice."
Warning for local residents: the fireworks display will entail some traffic restrictions:
While we're at it, you can also take the opportunity to discover theMaisons-Alfort Veterinary School. If your heart's in the right place, this is the perfect opportunity to venture into the Musée Fragonard, one of the oldest in France, dedicated to theanatomist Honoré Fragonard.
