A little corner of Sweden right in the heart of Paris, the Swedish Institute offers a wide range of exhibitions, film screenings and other cultural activities throughout the year, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in this Scandinavian country we know so little about.
And for the 43rd edition of the Heritage Days, which takes place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, the Swedish Institute highlights another facet of its heritage: the building that houses it! The latter, the sumptuous Hôtel de Marle, is a splendid 16th‑century edifice acquired more than five decades ago by the Swedish state to host the Swedish Institute. On the occasion of the Heritage Days, it invites you to discover its secrets!
With its painted ceiling, grand staircase and Philibert Delorme-style inverted hull framework, this is a building of exceptional architecture, fascinating history and sublime beauty! And why not take the opportunity to stop off at the Fika coffee shop, serving Swedish specialties.
Fika is the name of the café that has opened its doors at the Institut Suédois. In the cobbled courtyard of this free cultural site, which puts Sweden in the spotlight, we discover a welcoming, bright coffee shop with a terrace, serving up some lovely Swedish specialities. Guided tour of the Hôtel de Marle
Hôtel de Marle, a late-16th-century architectural gem that the Swedish state acquired more than 50 years ago, features unique details such as its grand staircase, a painted ceiling, and a roof with an inverted hull in the Philibert Delorme style.
