Take this opportunity to admire the Château de Jossigny, which is exceptionally open to visitors on this special weekend. The château was built by architect Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne for Claude-François Leconte des Graviers, a member of the 5th Chamber of Enquiries of the Paris Parliament, in 1753. Situated precisely 32 km from the capital, the château bears witness to the Rocaille style of the mid-18th century.
At the end of the 16th century, the estate came into the hands of the Braguelongue family, then in the 19th century, through a complex interplay of alliances, became the property of the De Roig family. Guy-François De Roig, a baron by trade, sold it to the French state in 1949, but retained usufruct until his death in 1975. Since then, the château has been managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. The château, its facades, the roofs of the outbuildings, the park and the avenues have been classified as historic monuments since 1942.
