Looking for a great Heritage Days outing? The Château-Musée de Nemours invites you to discover its treasures and secrets through an exciting program. It's the perfect way to take advantage of this not-to-be-missed cultural event, which invites you to discover our heritage in a whole new way, with visits and events - often free of charge - in museums, monuments, châteaux and even places not usually open to the public. And of course, the whole of the Île-de-France region gets in on the act!
Whether you're looking for a program near you, or you'd like to explore the region's heritage, Seine-et-Marne has plenty to offer, including the famous Château-Musée de Nemours.
A major medieval building in the Île-de-France region, Château de Nemours was built in the mid-12th century by Gauthier 1er de Villebéon. The entire château has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1977 (the chapel since 1926), and has been a museum since 1903. Throughout the year, two temporary exhibitions follow one another in the Musée de France. In all, 20,000 works of art make up the collections of this fine museum, including paintings, sculptures, graphic art, photographs and other works of decorative art.
Self-guided tour of the Château-Musée's permanent exhibition route
Born from a desire to make the Château-Museum’s masterpieces accessible to as many people as possible, the permanent route places particular emphasis on large-format works, the decorative arts, and sculpture.

European Castle–Museum Days: a theatrical tour
On the occasion of European Heritage Days, the Château-Musée de Nemours unveils an immersive, theatrical experience: five original capsules of about 15 minutes each. Designed for all audiences, this parcours invites visitors to discover—or rediscover—the castle from a fresh perspective, exploring the different roles it has played over the centuries.
Blending theatre, song, dance and original music by Alex Todo, each capsule transports guests into a distinct universe, with a tone that swings from humorous to poetic to pointed. A medieval refuge, a museum, a stage, a prison, or even the setting of a rap battle between castles—these pieces offer an original take on the monument’s history while echoing contemporary themes such as memory, heritage, culture, and living together.
The shows unfold across various spaces of the castle (courtyard, forecourt, exhibition rooms, etc.) and are performed in period costumes by actors, from scripts and direction by Robin Ganacheau and Milla Vuillermoz Hayashi, with Alex Todo delivering the original musical scores.
