Ghass was 15 when the revolution began. Like all boys his age, war was inevitable. He spent two years of his life on the front line. A year after the end of the war, he decided to leave for Paris, where he hoped to exorcise the images of war that had so permeated his youth. He never returned. That was in 1989.
A multi-disciplinary artist, he addresses the general public through a variety of media, including painting, drawing and sculpture. For him, art represents a bridge that links people across the past, present and future, and enables a message to be conveyed universally.

In 1678, Catherine Domilliers bequeathed three hundred pounds to the Hôtel Dieu in Beaumont-sur-Oise for the establishment of a convent of nuns to educate young girls. Thus was born the Jeanne d'Arc institution. In 1790, the boarding school was opened. In 1846, the Hôtel Dieu and the boarding school were definitively separated, and the latter moved to Rue Alsace-Lorraine, where it stands today. It was at this time that the Joan of Arc chapel was built.
