On the third weekend in September, Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region take part in the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days). Every year, this exceptional annual event is eagerly awaited by history buffs, art lovers and curious onlookers looking for cultural bargains and new discoveries.
Over the course of a weekend, museums, monuments, castles and even private venues such as ministries and embassies open their doors to you, offering a program specially designed for the occasion, often free of charge or not at all expensive. Free or guided tours, original events and workshops for the whole family- that's what's in store. Don't miss the next event on the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025.
It's time to explore our heritage from every angle. And it's just the thing, because during the Journées du Patrimoine, even Parisian hospitals are getting in on the act, revealing their sometimes unsuspected treasures. For this 42nd edition, you can conquer theHôpital Necker - Enfants Malades, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Founded in 1778, it is partly housed in the former convent of the Benedictine nuns Notre-Dame-de-Liesse.
For the past two years, the underground galleries of Necker Hospital have been brought to life by the works of over 125 street art artists. An exceptional opening of this confidential site is proposed on the occasion of the European Heritage Days!
