The European Heritage Days are set to return this weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023 for their 40th edition! This unmissable cultural event is packed with opportunities for unique visits and great deals. For one weekend, the most beautiful treasures of our heritage will reveal their secrets through an extensive lineup of events—often free—designed for all ages. Paris and the Île-de-France region join the celebration, inviting everyone to explore the museums, historic monuments, churches, libraries, fashion houses, embassies, hospitals, and much more—offering a full spectrum of ways to discover and celebrate our cultural heritage.
The Heritage Days are also a perfect opportunity to take advantage of special open days. Among the venues usually closed to the public that open their doors for this event, you'll find several government ministries. Many of these state institutions are housed within stunning historic mansions. For this 40th edition, visitors will have the chance to explore the Hôtel de Castries in the 7th arrondissement. Built at the end of the 17th century, this townhouse has served as the home for various ministries. Today, it hosts the Ministry for Democratic Renewal and the Government Spokesperson’s Office.
