L'Hôtel d'Avaray is a splendid private townhouse located at 58 Rue de Grenelle, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Built in the 18th century, this building exemplifies the neoclassical architecture of its era. Today, the Hôtel d'Avaray is the residence of the Ambassador of the Netherlands to France. As a diplomatic residence, it is generally not open to the public, but it will open its doors for Heritage Days on Saturday, September 19 for a self-guided tour.
Hôtel d'Avaray was built starting in 1718 by architect Jean-Baptiste Leroux. Over the centuries, it changed hands and underwent alterations, but it has always retained its original charm. This prestigious townhouse has been protected as a historic monument since 1926. The Heritage Days 2026 in Paris are therefore an opportunity to discover this Parisian landmark, usually closed to the public, during an open visit!
