Among the spots not to be missed? The legendary Singer factories in Bonnières-sur-Seine. Tucked away between the Seine and the Paris-Le Havre railway line, these red-brick icons, intimately linked to the identity of this Yvelines commune, are exceptionally opening their doors. Inaugurated in 1934, they epitomize the golden age of French industry. Here, everything was designed in a (very) closed circuit: cast iron, steel, wood, electric motors, cabinetry... each Singer sewing machine - 204 parts to be exact - was born on site, calibrated to the millimeter, inspected at every stage. A well-honed mechanism that has become a global legend, with over 200 million units sold worldwide. Thanks to its docks, overhead crane and futuristic organization for the time, the factory had a presence all over France.
To mark the European Heritage Days, the Singer factories in Bonnières-sur-Seine are exceptionally opening their doors to the public.
Come and discover a unique industrial heritage, with an exceptional exhibition of vintage machines, including the famous Singer sewing machines that have marked generations, as well as Farcot machines, testimony to remarkable mechanical know-how.
A rare and fascinating visit, where you can immerse yourself in the industrial history of the town and admire period engineering pieces.
A rare immersion inindustrial history that will thrill heritage enthusiasts... and those nostalgic for the straight stitch!
