In Survilliers (Val-d'Oise), theÉcomusée de la Cartoucherie recounts the industrial and social adventure of the Cartoucherie Française, founded in 1903 by Charles Gabel and Georges Leroy. From its beginnings with just a dozen employees, the factory grew into an industrial giant, employing up to 2,000 workers during the First World War. Inaugurated in 2007, this museum-conservatory became an inter-communal ecomuseum on January 1, 2024, managed by the Roissy Pays de France conurbation, with the mission of collecting and promoting testimonies, objects and photographs from this significant era. Thanks to these collections and the commitment of former workers, the Ecomuseum offers a living insight into the region's working-class and industrial memory.

Old machines, tools, documents, cartridges and other products tell the story of La Cartoucherie Française, a factory founded in 1903 and one of the region’s largest employers. The ecomuseum is also a starting point for discovering how the factory transformed the village of Survilliers by building housing for its workers, while also giving them access to medical, social, sports and cultural services.
