Heritage Days 2026 in Paris: rediscover the Saint-Michel Fountain in the Latin Quarter

It rises proudly between Boulevard Saint-Michel and Rue Danton, serving as the backdrop to the various events and gatherings that unfold on Place Saint-Michel. Towering columns of colorful marble, winged chimeras spouting water, statues, reliefs— and, of course, Saint Michael conquering the demon: no doubt the Saint-Michel Fountain has plenty to impress visitors.

This monument was conceived by Gabriel Davioud, one of the great architects of Haussmannian Paris, who helped redraw the capital during the Second Empire. He is best known for shaping, among other things, the two theaters on Place du Châtelet, several fountains, the Palais du Trocadéro, the railings of Parc Monceau, the Rotonde, and the artificial grotto in the Bois de Vincennes...

But on Saturday, September 19, 2026, the Saint-Michel Fountain is the headline in Paris. The monument will be unveiled during the new edition of the Journées du Patrimoine.
