For the 43rd edition of Heritage Days, the Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard opens its doors to us, and invites us to discover this magnificent 17th‑century monument tucked away in Essonne. The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard and its Remarkable Garden
The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard, located in Essonne in the Parc Naturel Régional de la Haute Vallée de Chevreuse, is a remarkably well-preserved 19th-century château classified as a historic monument. Visitors flock here to discover the grounds, and in particular the Potager, which has been awarded the Jardin Remarquable label. [Read more]
Still inhabited, the château boasts the largest dovecote in the Île-de-France region, as well as an astonishing flowering kitchen garden, unique in the world for its plant diversity. The latter has been classified as a Jardin Remarquable, a label introduced in 2004 by the French Ministry of Culture to distinguish gardens and parks of cultural interest. But these are not the only assets of this historic monument!
The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard embodies the French art of living of the 17th century: you can admire furnished rooms just as they were back then. The billiard room, the dining room, the library, the summer salon, the green drawing room… Room after room, treasures unfold, frozen in time. Once you’ve finished the château tour, be sure to stroll through the French-style gardens to take in the many flower parterres. Note that the activities are free, but entry to the estate remains paid for this weekend.
Molière Comes to the Château: Performances and Hands-On Workshops
Over the course of a show followed by participatory workshops, visitors are invited to dive into the world of Molière and the actors of the 17th century.
After a brief performance of iconic scenes, participants can explore the theatre’s backstage through several workshops: introduction to masked acting, mask painting, and a foray into theatrical fencing with wooden swords, inspired by the combat style of the Commedia dell'Arte. A playful, immersive experience suitable for both children and adults.

Sunday: 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., then roughly every 45 minutes from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Accompanied by the head gardener, visitors will discover the history, features and cultivation techniques of the castle’s remarkable vegetable garden, proudly labeled "Remarkable Garden." An immersion in living heritage where hands-on horticultural craft is passed down.
