Due to the continued ozone pollution episode, residential parking remains free in Paris this Thursday, May 28, 2026. According to the City of Paris, Airparif expects the information and recommendation threshold for ozone concentration to be exceeded on that day.
After an initial extension on Wednesday, May 27, the city government will keep this measure in place for Thursday, May 28, 2026, in line with the arrangements laid out by the Paris authorities in the event of a peak in air pollution.
This exemption applies exclusively to residential parking. It covers the mixed-use streets in the four zones designated around the driver’s home who benefits from Paris’s residential parking program.
The City of Paris also notes that if a pollution spike is declared after you’ve purchased a weekly pass, its validity will be extended by the number of freely granted days officially decided.
Authorities urge reducing the use of private cars, prioritising public transport, carpooling, cycling, and, where possible, teleworking.
Motorists are also urged to slow down:
Free residential parking is among the measures activated during periods of poor air quality to encourage residents to curb their motorized travel.
The information and advisory procedure is activated when pollutant levels exceed thresholds that could affect health, particularly for people who are sensitive or vulnerable.
