Bad weather in Paris: closure of parks, gardens, squares and cemeteries this Tuesday

Due to strong wind gusts expected this Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in the capital, the City of Paris announces the closure of green spaces and cemeteries until the next morning.

Paris continues to face new wind gusts this March 14, 2023. This Tuesday, Meteo France still places the capital and the rest of the Île-de-France in yellow vigilance for strong winds. According to the weather service, gusts of west to north-west, which can reach 60 to 80 km/h, or even 85 km/h, are expected in the Paris basin during the day.

Consequences? The City of Paris has decided " to close green spaces, parks, gardens and cemeteries all day on Tuesday, March 14. Also, parks, gardens, squares and cemeteries are currently closed and will remain so throughout the day. " The sites will reopen tomorrow morning as normal, after the usual checks," says the City of Paris.

The Paris City Council also wishes to remind some instructions to respect in case of heavy weather:

  • When a storm approaches, take the usual precautions to shelter objects sensitive to the wind.
  • Do not take shelter under trees.
  • Avoid walking in the woods.
  • If you are outside during a storm, avoid using the telephone and do not use electrical appliances.
  • Do not touch fallen wires under any circumstances.
  • Report any fires you may witness immediately.
  • In case of heavy rain, do not go down into basements.
  • Be careful and vigilant if you have to move.
