Last year, the government said they recorded 679 deaths and 15,654 infections these past 24 hours. As for Peru, they must face the dramatic shortage of medical oxygen, the Health Minister said. Last but not least, Mexico, second country with the highest death toll in Latin America, has officially reported 117,103 infections and 13,699 deaths.
As for demonstrations taking place worldwide supporting George Floyd, but also against racism and police violence, WHO director stressed it is important to remain vigilant. “WHO fully supports equality and the global movement against racism. We reject discrimination of all kinds," he said. But "we encourage all those protesting around the world to do so safely” he added.
As of today, the covid-19 pandemic has killed at least 403,000 people worldwide. According to data from the AFP, over 7 million sick tested positive for coronavirus have been officially recorded in 196 countries and lands.
