When and to whom will the 2025 Christmas bonus be paid? This is the question many French people are asking as the holiday season approaches. Here’s everything you need to know about this special financial aid!

As December progresses and we wrap up our Christmas gift shopping, some recipients of the Christmas Bonus are wondering when it will be paid out and how much it will be in 2025! This one-time exceptional aid will be distributed starting Tuesday, December 16, 2025. It is aimed at the most modest households to help them fund the holiday festivities. Find out the amounts and eligibility conditions for receiving it this year.

Every year, the Christmas bonus provides financial assistance to low-income households as the holiday season approaches. Confirmed by the government, this one-time aid is expected to be credited to recipients' bank accounts within the coming days. The bonus remains a much-anticipated event for around 2.2 million French people.

How much is it?

The amounts, although kept the same as the previous year, are adjusted according to household composition. An individual living alone will receive €152.45, while a couple or a single parent with children can receive higher payments due to additional allowances.

  • A couple with one child: €274.41
  • A single person with one child: €228.68
  • A couple with two children: €320.15
  • A single parent with three children: €335.39

These increases take into account the number of dependent children, with an additional €60.98 provided for each extra child.

Who is eligible for the Christmas bonus?

This assistance is intended for recipients of the main social minimum benefits who received them in November or December.

  • The RSA (Active Solidarity Income)
  • The ASS (Specific Solidarity Allowance)
  • The AER (Retirement Equivalent Allowance)
  • The lump-sum bonus for returning to work
  • The France Travail training allowance (RFFT)
  • The training stipends for apprenticeship interns / public internship pay (RSFP/RPS)

What to check

Payment is automatic, but it is essential to ensure that your bank details and family situation are up to date with the CAF, MSA or France Travail. For France Travail beneficiaries, the application must be made if it has not yet been registered.

This Christmas bonus, which is limited to one per household, is not taxable and requires no action on your part. If you only become eligible for benefits in December, you won’t receive this bonus this month but in January 2026. As explained on the public service website, the bonus is automatically distributed by the CAF, the MSA, or Pôle Emploi, depending on your situation!
