Thunderstorms in France are likely to be particularly intense this week, with the influence of ex-hurricane Erin causing weather deterioration across the whole of France. After a sunny weekend on August 23 and 24, marked by very pleasant temperatures, the weather in Paris and the Île-de-France region is set to change significantly from this Wednesday, August 27.
Ex-hurricane Erin is the main culprit behind this major weather disturbance about to sweep across France. This atmospheric phenomenon generates a conflict of air masses that favors the formation of particularly active lines of thunderstorms.
According to the latest Météo-France forecasts, this weather system will bring "heavy thunderstorms, heavy rain and possibly storms" to several French regions, particularly in the east of the country.
The weather in Paris will be mixed over the next few days:
Monday and Tuesday: we're still enjoying favorable weather conditions, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures approaching 30°C in the afternoon. Only a few drops are possible on Tuesday in the Yvelines.
Wednesday: A tipping point with the arrival of numerous clouds over theÎle-de-France region. However, unlike the eastern regions, no significant precipitation is expected in the capital and surrounding area.
Thursday: The first showers will appear in the Île-de-France region, accompanied by a few sunny spells. No thunderstorms are forecast at this stage.
Good news for residents of the Paris region: theÎle-de-France region should be relatively unaffected by the severe thunderstorms forecast elsewhere in France. Weather forecasts from Météo-France indicate that the most intense phenomena will be concentrated mainly in the eastern regions of the country.
The areas most exposed to heavy thundery precipitation stretch between the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean regions and Alsace. Météo-France may even issue a weather alert for the south-east between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
The weather forecast for the coming weekend looks bleak for the Paris region, with rain forecast for Friday and conditions unlikely to improve significantly on Saturday and Sunday. This rainy weather will accompany the start of September.
We're going to have to be patient and get out our umbrellas and raincoats after several particularly mild summer weeks in and around the capital.
