Dogs too have the right to live a dream life in Paris. Until now, the capital hasn't been particularly well-suited to our four-legged friends: according to the ranking of cities where it's good to live with a dog, drawn up by the magazine 30 millions d'amis in its May 2022 issue, Paris ranks 24th out of 42.
While there are a few parks and gardens where our little pooches can play freely, the lack of open spaces for dogs is sorely felt by owners.
In response, the Mairie du Ve arrondissement de Paris has decided to do something about the problem. Since May 23, 2022, a new "caniparc" has been open on the banks of the Seine, near the Tino-Rossi garden. This playground has been specially designed for dogs, allowing them to roam freely and enjoy themselves in complete safety.
" Opening a caniparc is of little interest if people don't use it - you have to make them want to! For this first canine park, this was a prerequisite, and I fought hard to ensure that the area was equipped with play equipment. Dog owners want it ," explains Florence Berthout, mayor of Le Ve, in the columns of Le Parisien.
The 120 m² play area features variousagility installations, including tunnels, posts and inclined planes. 25,000 euros have been allocated to this project to equip and plant this innovative space, installed next to the sculpture garden.
Associations such as the SPA and the Droit animal, éthique et sciences foundation hope that this type of project will become more common in Paris in the years to come, for the well-being of the thousands of dogs living in the capital.
