All top-level athletes walk away with a nice prize after a victory in their sport. In the world of tennis, it’s performance that will determine the amount of the "prize money" the players will receive. And Roland Garros, the only Grand Slam played on clay, offers some of the biggest sums, especially as the total prize fund of 56.352 million euros in 2025 has risen again to reach 61.723 million euros, a 9.53% increase.
A record payout for the players who shine the brightest during the tournament. However, since Covid, a solidarity-based distribution has been introduced, and the winners aren’t the ones who benefit the most. Even players knocked out in the first round of qualifying will walk away with 24 000 euros, and those eliminated in the second round with 33 000 euros. Those ousted in the final round of qualifying will leave with 48 000 euros. These are substantial sums that athletes depend on a lot.
Worth noting: men and women earn the same prize money! And the winners are, of course, out of competition, with €2.8 million for the men's singles and the women's singles.
