Unusual: a nighttime Velib' race arrives on the walkways of Paris's Parc Floral

Gear up to cycle on Saturday, April 25, 2026! On the occasion of the capital’s bike show, Velib Racing is staging the very first official Vélib race right in the heart of the Parc Floral de Paris, and this isn’t just any race—it’s a criterium (a road cycling event). From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., in a night-time edition, competitors will hop on their self-serve bikes to reach the finish, initially navigating a round of heats and rounds just like a standard competition.

On a circuit of about one kilometer winding through the park's avenues, according to Le Parisien, you can challenge friends or strangers—just sign up on a ticketing platform that should go live soon, but beware: limited spots are available for this inaugural edition! Expect to pay 20 euros to participate, but the general public will be able to watch for free and cheer on the day's athletes during this unusual evening race, after the daytime activities at the fair.

Moreover, the bike‑sharing company announced it has become a partner and plans to provide around ten conventional bikes—and even a mechanic—if they ever break down, just like the ones you see in the capital.
