Between inflation, taxes and issues surrounding President Emmanuel Macron's policies, the Gilets jaunes have many demands to make heard on the cobblestones of the capital. A new demonstration is planned in Paris this Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Demonstrators plan to gather from early afternoon on Place Saint-Augustin for a 3pm start, under the impetus of the "Unité Gilets Jaunes" movement. Their demands include the implementation of the Référendum d'Initiative Citoyenne (RIC - Citizens' Initiative Referendum), France's exit from the European Union and NATO, against the dispatch of military troops to Ukraine, an end to generalized price rises, higher wages and pensions, an emergency financial plan for public hospitals, and respect for the Munich Charter by the French media.
The procession will then head for rue de la Pépinière, Saint-Lazare, Châteaudun, rue du faubourg Poissonnière, Petits Carreaux, rue Montorgueil and Étienne Marcel, towards rue Pierre Lescot and rue Berger, before turning onto rue Aubry le Boucher and arriving at Place Edmond Michelet.
The yellow vests detail their route and demands on their official website, as they do every week, and state that the demonstration has been accepted by the Paris police prefecture.
