The City of Paris keeps on completing its territorial readjustment for a few years by investing in new housing uptown.

Social housings in the better-off districts of Paris? You read well! These housings – three times lower than the market’s prizes – enable families or very modest tenants to rent a place within Paris. Therefore, a residency has been recently renovated rue du Val-de-Grâce, right by the Luxembourg garden, near the Lycée Henri IV and the Lycée Louis Le Grand. All in all, fifteen housings have been renovated by the city of Paris and social lessor Paris Habitat as part of the project.

Built in 1850, this building was subject to major renovations for two years and now is conform to the energy standards of the climate plan. Tenants saw the old building be turned into a beautiful place of life. At the back of the courtyard of the building, even the small primary school was renovated with a brand-new covered playground and a classroom conform to standards.

The territorial readjustment selected by the City of Paris has already seen new social housings appear in the 16th and 6th arrondissements this past June. Therefore, for about a decade, the readjustment has been bearing its fruits since – according to CNEWS – the share of social housings moved from 1.7% in 2001 to 7.3% in 2021, in the 16th arrondissement; from 0.61% in 2001, to 4.3% in 2021, in the 8th arrondissement; from 1.57% in 2001 to 6.2% in 2021, in the 2nd arrondissement. This Fall, more housings part of the territorial readjustment will be inaugurated, including within the former premises of the Bank of France rue Feuillade in the 1st arrondissement, housings in the 7th arrondissement, avenue de Breteuil, and even rue Daubenton in the 5th arrondissement.
