Currently running between Porte de Vincennes and Porte d'Asnières, tramway T3b will be extended westwards to Porte Dauphine. This Friday, April 5, 2024, 7 new stations, including the new terminus in the capital's 16th arrondissement, will officially welcome their first passengers. We tell you all about this extension and inauguration.

Public transport in Paris and the Paris region is constantly evolving. While the arrival of the Grand Paris Express network is eagerly awaited, other metro, tramway and RER lines are due to be extended beforehand, such as line 11, extended to the east, and RER E, extended to the west.

On the tramway side, the T3b will be extended to Porte Dauphine, providing better service to the western part of Paris. At present, the T3b runs between Porte de Vincennes (12th arrondissement) and Porte d'Asnières (17th arrondissement), serving more than 20 stations, including Porte de Bagnolet, Porte de la Villette and Porte de la Chapelle.

This Friday, April 5, 2024 , starting at 11 a.m., 7 new stations will officially open on this tramway line. The T3b, the busiest streetcar line in the Paris region, will be extended by 3.2 kilometers to Porte Dauphine, in the 16th arrondissement, with only 15 minutes separating Porte d'Asnières from Porte Dauphine. In all, the T3b will cover a distance of around 17 km from Porte de Vincennes to Porte Dauphine.

Thanks to this extension of the T3b to the west of Paris, passengers will have a choice of connections, notably with the RER C at Porte Dauphine and Porte Maillot, but also with metro lines 1, 2 and 3 as well as the Porte de Champerret bus station, not forgetting the RER E in the near future.

Before the inauguration of these 7 new stations on April 5, 2024, a new stage was reached on the T3b, with the famous " white run ". The aim? To ensure the performance and safety of infrastructure and trains, as well as passenger comfort ".

This " white run " began on March 6 and will continue until commercial service begins on April 5, 2024. During this " white run ", the T3b streetcars, with no passengers on board, will run at their current frequency, stopping at each station"on the extended section (from Marguerite-Long Porte d'Asnières to Porte Dauphine)".

The inauguration of the Tramway T3Bextension, marked by the famous"ribbon-cutting" ceremony, is therefore scheduled for this April 5 at 11:00 am, at the Porte Dauphine station, in front of the Avenue Foch station. According to Le Parisien, Jean Castex, CEO of RATP, will be present for the inauguration, as will Patrice Vergriete, Minister of Transport, and Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris. Immediately after the ceremony, passengers will be able to board the trains on this new section!
