Following on from the competition for the best traditional baguette in Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Val-d'Oise andEssonne, there's a new competition once again showcasing the expertise of our local bakers.
This autumn, the Syndicat des Boulangers-Pâtissiers du Grand Paris is organizing the competition for the best organic bread in the Paris region. On October 4, many of them submitted their organic breads to the Syndicat's headquarters in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.
After smelling, touching and tasting 63 organic loaves, including 2 from apprentice bakers (out of 76 entries), the jury delivered its verdict on Friday, October 6, 2023. To decide between them, the jury noted several criteria, including the bread's appearance, but also its baking, crumb, smell and taste. The prize for the best 2023 organic bread in the Île-de-France region went to Jean-Paul Taranne. Officiating at Le Fournil Gourmand bakery in Noisy-le-Grand, Seine-Saint-Denis, this artisan baker can be proud of having won first place in the competition.
He is followed by Lionel Odic of Les Délices de Pasteur bakery in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Meanwhile, Benjamin Vigreux of the Graine bakery in the 20th arrondissement of the capital took third place.
