Many Parisian and Ile-de-France establishments(restaurants, cafés, boutiques, etc.) were impacted by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. While the vast majority of the capital's businesses were able to benefit from the extra tourist flow, some addresses may, on the contrary, have suffered economic damage.
Indeed, as part of the 2024 Olympics, the Préfecture de police has sometimes had to take measures to restrict or prohibit access to sites, areas or routes included in security perimeters, in order to ensure the proper organization of events and the safety of all.
These measures have sometimes resulted in "abnormal and special prejudice for certain economic players". In order to ensure that compensation claims can be processed, the French government has set up a platform for submitting claims for possible compensation.
The site has been accessible since May 6 to all Paris and Ile-de-France economic players impacted by the Games, in other words professionals affected by restrictions on traffic, river navigation or access to 2024 Olympic zones in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
Claims will be examined by the relevant government departments and forwarded to the Commission d'indemnisation des dommages subis à l'occasion des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024, set up by the government. The commission's mission will be "to issue an informed opinion on each claim, before the relevant administrations rule onany compensation for claimants."
