On November 11, 1918, the German army surrendered and requested a ceasefire. The Allies and Germany agreed to an armistice, ending one of the deadliest wars ever known. This day is commemorated each year in France, in memory of the atrocities committed and in tribute to those who died for France.
On this occasion, many municipalities in France organize a ceremony in front of the war memorial First World War. The municipality and citizens gather to lay a wreath of flowers to honor the memory of those who died during the war.
In Paris, tradition dictates that the President of the Republic and various representatives of the government and the army gather atthe Arc de Triomphe for a commemoration and the ceremony to rekindle the flame of the Unknown Soldier. Elsewhere in Île-de-France, several towns also organize their own commemorations.

10:30 a.m.: Tribute to soldiers - Military Square 14-18, Gentilly cemetery, entrance on Rue Louis-Pergaud
11:00 a.m.: Tribute to the three teachers from the Henri-Barbusse school who died in combat
11:05 a.m.: Ceremony at the war memorial - Speech by a representative of veterans, speech by Fatah Aggoune, mayor of Gentilly, wreath laying followed by a reception in the Council Chamber.

11:00 a.m. ceremony at the old cemetery: Place de l'Eglise
With the participation of the Municipal Conservatory of Music and Dance band. The ceremony will be preceded by a wreath laying at the war memorial in the new cemetery, rue Gaston Monmousseau.
Departure by bus at 10 a.m. in front of the town hall.
After the ceremony, a reception will be offered by the municipality at the Espace Robespierre (2 rue Robespierre).
