Would you like to take part in the November 11, 2025 commemorations organized near you in Essonne? Here are the programs for the major cities in the 91 department for this national holiday.
On November 11, 1918, the belligerent nations of World War I signed the armistice: a ceasefire that led to the complete end of a devastating war in Europe. Since 1922, this day has been a public holiday, a national holiday commemorating the return of peace and the memory of the soldiers and victims of this war.
During this holiday, it is customary to hold a ceremony in towns and villages throughout France: each municipality pays tribute to veterans and those who were affected by the Great War. Speeches, wreath laying, songs: these solemn commemorations are open to all and are often held in cemeteries or in front of the municipality's war memorials.
