On strike since January 5th for a duration of ten days, independent doctors are taking to the streets this Saturday, January 10, 2026, for a major demonstration scheduled in Paris. Here’s what you need to know about the route of this protest.
Private-sector doctors have been on strike since January 5, 2025, and for many, they plan to stay out until at least January 15. Unusual in recent years, all generations of practitioners and every union representing liberal doctors are united in opposition to the proposed 2026 Social Security budget, which they deem «insufficient.» This budget, passed on December 16 at the National Assembly, notably includes a cap on the growth of healthcare spending at 1.6%, down from 3.4% in 2025.
General practitioners, specialists, young doctors, and medical interns have rallied together in response to a joint call from the leading professional unions (Avenir Spé/Le Bloc, CSMF, MG France, FMF, SML, and UFML) and have been participating in a strike since last Monday.
A demonstration is also scheduled to take place in
Paris on
Saturday, January 10, 2026.
"The turnout is expected to be extremely high," according to the CSMF union, which shared the information with AFP. So, what’s the planned route? Which areas should drivers and motorcyclists avoid? The
official website of the general practitioners' union (MG France) states that this united protest will begin with a gathering at
Place du Panthéon in the 5th arrondissement, starting around 12:30 PM. The procession will then head towards the
Hôtel des Invalides, close to the Ministry of Health in the 7th arrondissement, around 2 PM. Stay tuned for the detailed route of this demonstration.
