Heatwave in Paris: Eiffel Tower's summit closed to the public on August 14

The heat is rising another notch, brushing close to 40°C. As temperatures continue to warm the capital during this new heatwave episode, conditions are becoming particularly difficult in Paris and in Île-de-France. Faced with these extreme temperatures, Météo France has placed Paris and the entire Île-de-France region under orange heatwave alert.

These scorching heatwaves are not without consequences for residents and visitors, as well as for the buildings themselves. In fact, some tourist sites are trimming visiting hours or even closing their doors for a spell as a security precaution. This is the case of the Tour Eiffel, which announced the exceptional closure of the monument's summit, this Friday, August 14, 2026.

The Iron Lady is thus closing its summit. Visitors can go up to the second floor of the tower, but no higher, for safety reasons. The monument says that those who had purchased tickets to visit the summit have been contacted by email: a refund should be offered to visitors.
