September 29 strike: three RER lines and two Transilien lines disrupted, traffic outlook

This week in France is shaping up to be eventful. With a public-sector strike planned for Tuesday, September 29, 2026, some Paris and Île-de-France public transport services will also be affected by the nationwide walkout. In a statement issued on September 22, the CGT-RATP said it had filed an unlimited strike notice. The rail union has called on all company employees to cease work starting Monday, September 28, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

Since then, we know a bit more about the scale of the movement that is expected to have a limited impact on public transport in Île-de-France. According to a RATP spokesperson who spoke with AFP, traffic will be "normal" on the metro as well as on the RER A and RER B lines operated by the Régie autonome des transports parisiens.

However, disruptions are to be expected on two Transilien lines, but also on the RER C, RER D and RER E; SNCF-managed RER lines. In detail, traffic will be "disrupted" on the RER C and the RER E, and "heavily disrupted" on the RER D.

Transilien SNCF also flags a "perturbed" service on the V line and "heavily disrupted" on the R line. Service will run normally on the other Transilien SNCF lines. So here’s what to expect this Tuesday in Île-de-France’s public transport.

RER D: heavy disruption. Transilien SNCF urges passengers to limit travel, where possible.
- Expect one train out of two :
  - between Creil and Corbeil-Essonnes,
  - between Melun and Goussainville,
  - between Juvisy and Malesherbes.

- Plan for one in three trains to run
  - between Corbeil Essonnes and Juvisy,
  - between Melun and Corbeil Essonnes.

RER E: service disrupted; expect only three trains out of four running.

Ligne R du Transilien: service severely disrupted. Passengers are also urged to limit travel “where possible.”
- Expect one train in three:
  - from 4:45 to 11:00 and then 16:00 to 21:00 between Paris Gare de Lyon and Montargis,
  - from 5:40 to 8:45 and then 16:30 to 23:00 between Paris Gare de Lyon and Montereau,
  - from 6:00 to 9:30 and then 16:30 to 20:00 between Melun and Montereau via Héricy.

Line V of the Transilien: service disrupted; only two out of three trains running, with an average frequency of one train every 30 minutes.
