The Post Office Museum is celebrating the Chinese New Year 2026 this Saturday, February 21st, with a variety of paid activities suitable for families. Join in the celebration of the Year of the Fire Horse and explore the traditions behind the Lunar New Year, all while visiting the museum. The event features creative workshops and theatrical performances, in collaboration with AMPIEAC, an association dedicated to promoting Chinese culture in the 15th arrondissement.
As with all such events, space is limited, so it's best to book in advance to ensure you can participate in your preferred workshops. In addition to special Chinese New Year activities, you'll have the chance to join a guided tour exploring the history of postage stamps and philately (€9), as well as a Mail Art exhibition from the museum’s collection. The experience continues with a fun workshop where you can create your own Mail Art inspired by the Year of the Horse (€14).
This workshop invites children and their parents to create Lunar New Year greeting cards using wooden stamps featuring horses and traditional Chinese New Year messages. It begins with a brief introduction to seals and stamping in Chinese culture.
Introduction to Chinese ink painting inspired by the horse and its Chinese character. Through a blend of gesture, ink, and emptiness, this workshop offers a nuanced exploration of Chinese aesthetics, emphasizing freedom, imagination, and reflection.
Bring the family together to explore the twelve Chinese zodiac animals through a brief theatrical performance, followed by fun, interactive activities. The Petit Monde troupe leads parents and children into this symbolic world, blending play, storytelling, and movement for an engaging experience.
