It's one of the must-attend events this spring. On May 23, 2026, the Nuit des Musées in Paris and Île-de-France makes its return. This flagship moment on the cultural calendar invites us to discover our heritage in a fresh light, with numerous nocturnal openings—often free—and special activities at the heart of museums, monuments, art foundations and more. The event draws together young and old, the curious and the passionate, helping everyone enjoy a wealth of great outings. Each year, the programming is so broad that it's hard not to find something you love.
And just as much for art lovers, especially fans of Impressionism, this is the moment to gather in the heart of a bucolic, intimate museum waiting for us on the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The Marmottan Monet Museum, dedicated to fine arts, sits on the edge of the Ranelagh Garden. This grand townhouse formerly owned by art historian Paul Marmottan houses, notably, the world’s largest collection of works by Claude Monet, the renowned French painter often regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism.

For the 22nd edition of the Night of Museums in Paris, this wonderfully charming museum invites you to discover its treasures during a free late-night opening with a special program.
From April 29 to August 16, 2026, the Marmottan Monet Museum presents the first Paris-based monographic show devoted to Giovanni Segantini, a major figure in European Symbolism and Divisionism. Bringing together about sixty works — paintings, pastels, and drawings — the exhibition traces the meteoric arc of an artist who made Alpine landscapes the heart of a pursuit that was at once aesthetic and spiritual. From Lombardy in Italy to the Swiss Engadine, Segantini captured the raw force of nature and revealed its symbolic dimension, well beyond mere realism. He dreamt of presenting his work in Paris for the 1900 Exposition Universelle, a plan halted by his untimely death in 1899. More than a century later, this show, curated by Gabriella Belli and Diana Segantini, finally pays tribute to his visionary gaze and his distinctive way of harmonizing humanity and nature, a distinctly modern synthesis.
The magnificent Paul Marmottan townhouse, with its preserved Empire-era decor, now hosts the Marmottan Monet Museum. Beyond its haute-époche holdings (paintings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts) and Empire treasures, it is home to the world’s largest public collection of Claude Monet’s and Berthe Morisot’s works. A centerpiece of Impressionism, it also showcases numerous masterpieces by Delacroix, Boudin, Manet, Degas, Caillebotte, Sisley, Pissarro, Gauguin, and Rodin. Chagall marks the Modern era. Come discover its treasures on a self-guided visit.
