Note: due to the red heatwave alert, some events of the Fête de la Musique 2026 may be canceled, postponed or changed. Check details before you head out.
There’s one day you can make some serious noise, and this is it! The Fête de la musique returns all across France on Sunday, June 21, 2026, bringing with it, as always, a lineup of free concerts. Rock, rap, jazz, classical, blues, zouk, metal, electro and pop… every year on the same date, aspiring musicians and singers go all out to make living music resonate on every street corner.
For those who may have forgotten, the Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 by the Ministry of Culture. This new edition marks the 45th anniversary of this musical, popular and free event, beloved by the general public. As in previous years, this year’s Fête de la Musique is an opportunity "to emphasize the principles that guided its creation: a festive, popular and spontaneous event that speaks to all audiences and aims to highlight and foster amateur practices", the Ministry of Culture’s site explains.
So what musical program awaits you in Île-de-France on June 21? If you live in the Seine-et-Marne, a string of free concerts is announced across the department, with Fontainebleau standing out. This town, famed not only for its château but also for the climbing routes in its beautiful forest, hosts a busy calendar of cultural events year-round. It was only natural that it would join in the Fête de la musique. On Sunday, June 21, 2026, the municipality morphs into an open‑air stage from 7 p.m. to midnight. Here’s the program!
You might not have seen it coming... and yet summer is already knocking on our door!
To celebrate its arrival properly, the Fête de la Musique takes over Fontainebleau’s streets for an evening of rhythm and conviviality, Sunday, June 21 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
The pedestrianised town centre becomes a true open-air stage, where everyone can discover free-to-attend artists and groups, both established and emerging, spanning every genre. Whether you’re into rock, jazz, pop, or electro, there’ll be something for every ear!
Meet up on the city’s main squares: Place de la République (large Interparking stage), Place Franklin Roosevelt (Évasion stage), Place Napoléon and Place de l’Étape... And don’t miss the traditional mini-stage in the Saint-Claude alley, in front of Naturalia.
Until midnight, let the music carry you, dance, sing, and fully enjoy this beautiful summer evening in Fontainebleau!
