This year's Fête de la Musique returns to France on Saturday, June 21, 2025 , with a host of musical events of all kinds. It's a chance to catch up with well-known and established artists live, as well as to discover up-and-coming talent, ready to show what they're made of. Whether in a concert hall or a museum, outdoors in a garden or in the street, budding musicians and singers will be out in force to celebrate music in all its forms on June 21.
Every year, many of the capital's cultural centers open their doors to foreign artists, taking music lovers on a journey to faraway lands. Such is the case of the Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris (MCJP). Located just a stone's throw from the legendary Eiffel Tower, the Japanese cultural center offers a year-round series of events combining exhibitions, shows and workshops.
On June 21, 2025, the Maison de la culture du Japon ( MCJP) is getting in step with the times with an explosive musical program. This year, for the new Fête de la musique, the MCJP is honoring the island of Miyako-jima with a series of free concerts. Starting at 3pm, traditional singer Miwa Yonashiro, the Paris Sanshin Club and folk group Yui no Ne will be on hand. It's an opportunity to immerse yourself in Japanese music and discover the diversity and musical richness of Okinawan song and dance.
Note that these concerts are free to attend, but require réservation. The event, announced from 3 p.m. and lasting two hours, will take place in the small hall of the cultural center.
A Berklee College of Music graduate in jazz composition, Kan Sano is a Japanese keyboardist and producer renowned for a singular sound that sits at the crossroads of jazz, soul, R&B, and pop. He’s also known as one of the first Japanese artists to release a work on the prestigious British label Decca Records, and has opened for Tom Misch in Japan and South Korea, a collaboration that drew public praise from the UK star.
In the wake of his latest album MOJACAT, Kan Sano heads on a national tour and will perform in Paris on June 20. This special date includes an additional concert linked to the city leg of the tour.
During the performance, he will invite the audience into Mental Sketch, his piano-centered instrumental project built around improvisation. Between delicate, warm melodies, looping motifs, subtle resonances, and spontaneous moments, Kan Sano crafts a distinctive musical narrative—an intimate opportunity to glimpse his fearless creativity and the depth of his artistic expression.
