Some works are best watched from a distance. Others invite you to approach, to circle around, to sense their material, their shapes or their rough edges. With this tactile route around Gare de l’Est, Nuit Blanche 2026 Nuit Blanche 2026 invites you to slow down in a place where everything usually moves fast.
The Nuit Blanche pulls contemporary art out of its usual frame to place it into the city: squares, streets, public buildings, train stations, gardens, or cultural venues become spaces to discover. The 2026 edition will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, across Paris and its inner suburbs, with a clearly participatory spirit championed by the City of Paris.
Located at Place du 11-Novembre-1918, in the 10th arrondissement, the Gare de l’Est is one of Paris’s main train stations. Its history begins in the 19th century. Commissioned to architect François-Alexandre Duquesney, the station opened in 1849 under the name Strasbourg station, before becoming Gare de l’Est.
The building still commands the streets with its stone façade, its expansive glass surfaces, and its status as a city landmark. The station also carries a significant historical memory, notably tied to the departures of soldiers at the start of World War I, evoked by the monumental painting The Departure of the Poilus, August 1914.
For La Nuit Blanche 2026, this hub of activity becomes a more intimate playground for exploration. The detailed program can be found below!
